On the 8th July, a team of eight Morgans’ employees, “Morgans Dream Team”, will be running through the streets of Leeds in the Asda Foundation Leeds 10K along with over 10,000 other runners. We are raising money for two local charities; Leeds Mencap and The Market Place Leeds.

Rhiannon, Shelley, Helen, Alex, James, Daisy, Rebecca and Kerry have all been training hard for the event over the last few months, with some managing a couple of 10k runs each week! The canal has been the training route for a few of our runners, with some opting for the North Yorkshire countryside and others a few laps of Roundhay Park.

The event has been a highlight in Leeds’ calendar for 12 years now and is a lasting legacy of Jane Tomlinson CBE, who first introduced the 10K into the city centre back in 2006. It is estimated that by its 10th year in 2016, the race had raised over £4m for local, regional and national charities.

Whilst Leeds is a highly successful city, we recognise that there are many challenges to be overcome, particularly in some of our most deprived communities and we take our responsibilities in this respect very seriously; success in business is not enough for us and we do all we can to contribute to civic life. Our MD is a Trustee of Leeds Community Foundation, joint founder of The Crypt Factor which has raised over £500,000 over ten years, a Director of Gipton Fire Station Community Enterprise, and a passionate advocate for the city. We regularly volunteer as a team for charities such as St George’s Crypt, The Market Place Leeds and Leeds Mencap and aim to do as much as we can to positively influence the world outside Morgans.

It is the first year entering a Morgans team into the Leeds 10K and we hope this is something we can continue to do each year. If anybody would like to donate to our fundraising page, we would really appreciate it and is the motivation our runners need to cross that finish line!

Good luck to all the runners and be sure to give our dream team a wave if you see them running by!
